On 5–6 September, during EneidaFest on the grounds of the National Museum of Folk Architecture and Life of Ukraine, a fair of folk art was held. It continued the story of last year’s festival “Living Culture — Living World” and brought together masters, bearers of traditions and representatives of the country’s cultural front who work on the study, keeping and sharing of elements of intangible cultural heritage from different regions of our remarkable and many-sided state.

Tavrian painting was presented at this event for the second time by the Public Organisation “Adult Learning and Education Center ‘South’,” thanks to which, in November 2025, “Tavryka” was officially entered in the National List of Elements of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Ukraine. For the ambassadors of the painting this is one more chance to speak of the original cultural tradition of the Mykolaiv Region, of its character and of the work of sharing and keeping it.

The region and the ICH element were represented by co-founder of the Organisation Viktor Sikalenko, Honoured Master of Folk Art of Ukraine Liubov Paraniuk, master of embroidery based on motifs of the painting Anna Salnyk, and other members of the team from PO “ALEC ‘South’.”

 

The festival gave new acquaintances, interesting conversations with masters and bearers of other Ukrainian traditions, and — most of all — new ideas for future projects and partnerships.

They did not return to Mykolaiv empty-handed: they bought a new piece for the collection of ceramic bells of the leading master of the Workshop of Tavrian Painting, Liubov Paraniuk. It will help, during teaching and public-awareness events, to introduce the people of Mykolaiv to the variety of Ukraine’s intangible cultural heritage.

And we remind you: cultural heritage will remain a LIVING TRADITION for as long as we study it, practise it and pass it on.
