This kind of composition in Tavrian painting is represented by one of the principal Ukrainian symbols — the Tree of Life, which at once embodies a model of the universe, of a person and of a family.

In it everything is interconnected, and for every being, object or phenomenon a place of its own is set apart. That is why the Tree may be seen as the embodiment of a certain unity of the world-order, in which the roots correspond to the other world, the foot of the trunk to the world of people, and the crown to the spiritual world.
